Available for children K - 12 Small group: 8 students max! Learn drawing, painting, clay & more

Hunter's Creek

Service Description

Wednesdays 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM The intent of this class is to supplement your homeschooling efforts by offering an art program attuned to the Florida Standards for students K-12 who may be interested in the arts as an elective. The class limit is 10 children, which allows for individual support and attention. Although the classes follow the standards, they are also highly student-centered. Children are creative beings and their strengths and interests are taken into account in every lesson. Throughout the school year, your child will learn a variety of media including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, textiles, clay, and print-making. Additionally, they will learn the art vocabulary and standards required by the state including the elements of art and principles of design, cultural artworks, famous artists, community artists, art history, contemporary arts, art careers, and more. As in school, students' work and progress will be evaluated with a rubric to satisfy any requirements by the state. Parents may decide whether or not to have their child's work graded. Materials required: A sketchbook. Preferably a 8x11 or 9x12 spiral-bound sketchbook (unlined) but other sketchbooks are available. On occasion, other materials will be requested. These are usually things you can find around the house or easily purchase (ie. cardboard for a sculpture), you will be notified when that may be necessary. Ages: This class will be individualized and students K-12 are welcome to join. Depending on interest, I may split by age in the future. Curriculum: This class will satisfy all the Florida Standards required by the county of Orange and Osceola for the school year your child is working on.
